Saint George on a Bike presents at one of the Hack4OpenGLAM meetups

During the CC Global Summit from 20 to 24 September 2021 will take place the Hack4OpenGLAM, a co-creation event for GLAM professionals, community archivists, creators, developers, platforms, tool creators and content communities with any level of experience which aims to promote Open Access to Cultural Heritage.

Meetups are held every Thursday through the Hac4OpenGLAM Zoom as supporting activities leading up to the hackaton in order to In order to present project ideas and discuss about them. Artem Reshetnikov, Research Engineer from the CASE Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, presented SGoaB at one of the weekly meetups. His presentation focused on the challenges of applying AI in GLAM and the work of SGoaB in this field, as an innovative project which trains AI for the cultural heritage sector. Moreover, the project was also included in the Hack4OpenGLAM Dashboard.

This year the Hack4OpenGLAM will focus on knowledge equity – highlighting knowledge of individuals, communities, and cultures who have been left out of the spotlight of history, decolonizing cultural historical collections, and acknowledging responsible ways of sharing information online openly. The event is produced by AvoinGLAM / Creative Commons Finland in collaboration with the OpenGLAM Platform at Creative Commons, and supported by a Conference Grant from the Wikimedia Foundation.
