Europeana, the initiative that provides digital access to European cultural heritage material and one of the SGoaB partners, held its main conference, Europeana 2021, on 10, 11 and 12 November 2021.
Under the title “Recover, Rebuild, Grow”, the event aimed to raise voices across the sector to empower digital transformation and explore the role digital cultural heritage plays in supporting a sustainable, responsible and inspiring cultural heritage sector.
The event had a total duration of three days: the first day was focused on putting values at the heart of Europe’s digital future and covered topics such as youth engagement, hackathons and multilinguality. On its second day, the conference explored sustainable digital transformation of the cultural heritage sector and how it can contribute to a sustainable future for Europe. During the sessions there were different discussions about digital storytelling, greening organisations and how to connect heritage with communities, among others. Finally, the last day the event looked at how technology can be used to drive social change and covered topics related to artificial intelligence, digital volunteering, crowdsourcing, etc.
During the three days of the conference, there was a parallel platform called Gather.town with multiple networking opportunities: chat for the attendees, poster sessions, online games, and curious information related to cultural heritage.
Saint George on a Bike, participated with its poster “Make culture and history more accessible to people” so the audience could see and read it and also interact with its presenter to ask questions and learn more about the project. The poster highlighted the objectives of SGoaB as well as the impact its results will have in the cultural heritage sector and also the main actions of the project.
